NGC 604 (imagen Miri)

Esta imagen de la NASA James Webb Space Telescope (instrumento de infrarrojo medio) de la región de formación de estrellas NGC 604 muestra cómo grandes nubes de gas más fresco y brillo de polvo en longitudes de onda de infrarrojo medio. Esta región es un semillero de la formación de estrellas y el hogar de más de 200 de los tipos más populares y masivos de estrellas, todas en las primeras etapas de sus vidas.

En la vista Miri de NGC 604, hay notablemente menos estrellas que Imagen NIRCAM de Webb . Esto se debe a que las estrellas calientes emiten mucha menos luz en estas longitudes de onda. Algunas de las estrellas vistas en esta imagen son supergigiants rojos, estrellas que son geniales pero muy grandes, cientos de veces el diámetro de nuestro sol. Los zarcillos azules de material significan la presencia de hidrocarburos aromáticos policíclicos, o HAP.

Color Info This image is a composite of separate exposures acquired by the James Webb Space Telescope using the NIRCam instrument. Several filters were used to sample varying wavelength ranges. The color results from assigning different hues (colors) to each monochromatic (grayscale) image associated with an individual filter. In this case, the assigned colors are:  Luminostiy: F335M, Blue: F700W, Green: F1130W, Red: F1500W
